Has McCain Gone Insane?

In Reno, NV, Sen. John McCain, R-AZ, criticized Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's move to repeal congressional authorization for the Iraq war, saying it's "the worst possible idea that anybody could have" (Associated Press).

What does McCain know about the consequences of this action? This isn't the first time this repeal has been brought up because it coinsides with the troops withdrawal bill that the coward in office vetoed. Probably without reading it.

Speaking to reporters after a town hall meeting Saturday in Reno, McCain said a new strategy announced by President Bush in January is beginning to show "some success" and should be given a chance to succeed. "I think it's a bad idea for us to again tie up the United States Senate in something that won't be successful," McCain said.

It seems obvious that vital information from the region is being stretched and fabricated to justify another failed war "strategy" among the many that Bush keeps changing. What is the real reason for this town hall "meeting", and who attended? Was it open to the public or just Republicans?

"I think it again perhaps will send the wrong signal to our men and women who are trying top succeed over there. I just think it's the worst possible idea that anybody could have," he added. "I'll do everything in my power to see that it doesn't succeed."

Instead of researching Sen. Clinton's idea, he has condemned it as well as the men and women who are trying to make this "new war strategy" work. Since this new strategy was implemented in January, up to now, there have been record KIA's among our ground units in March and April. Is that the success McCaim is touting? Hell no!

At this point, McCain is nothing but a blustering old fart. I hope the Rethugs dump him very soon as it's smelling pretty bad.

McCain has completely lost it. But, he's not the only one. The republican party has become so obsessed with, "My way, or else.." that like you said, a good idea is bad and criticized for only coming from a democrat.

Sadly, these wingnuts do not and will not put the best interest of the troops nor the country first. McCain, who knows what combat is like and knows the hells of an unjust war, should be even more ashamed than the rest.

It is getting to the point where we have to treat these people like McCain like the English treat their eccentrics. Just smile and ignore them.

McCain can't even get the wingnuts to like him! Who care what he has to say? The really creepy part is that he doesn't see it. Kinda like Dubya can't see the brick wall he has run into. The more they act the ass, the more people are waking up and seeing this for what it is. The only thing they had going for them, the fear factor, has been pretty much pulled from under their feet. Just think of all the time left for them to further prove what nuts they are.

Historian Peter N. Kirstein:

Of course, military conflicts are not fought for the troops but for alleged war aims that purportedly serve the national interest. Whether those war aims are just or not, wars are never fought to benefit the combatants, who suffer and sacrifice greatly in a conflict, but for some other constituency.

Excellent post Gunner!

I think what kills me the most is how many young lived will be lost because of this "coward in office" and his few followers.

You and I both know that it takes 8 - 12 weeks to train in bootcamp and then an OJT school. He's had 4 years. The Iraqi govenment has had slightly less. The time is LONG overdue to leave Iraq to the Iraqi's. It's up to them, not us.

Again, very nice! I hope this is one of many, many, many more to come!
