Meltdown of the GOP

It’s hard to say which is worse news for Republicans: that George W. Bush now has the worst approval rating of an American president in a generation, or that he seems to be dragging every ’08 Republican presidential candidate down with him.

The public’s approval of Bush has sunk to 28 percent, an all-time low for this president in our poll, and a point lower than Gallup recorded for his father at Bush Sr.’s nadir. The last president to be this unpopular was Jimmy Carter who also scored a 28 percent approval in 1979. This remarkably low rating seems to be casting a dark shadow over the GOP’s chances for victory in ’08. The NEWSWEEK Poll finds each of the leading Democratic contenders beating the Republican frontrunners in head-to-head matchups.
(snip)
A majority of Americans believe Bush is not politically courageous: 55 percent vs. 40 percent. And nearly two out of three Americans (62 percent) believe his recent actions in Iraq show he is “stubborn and unwilling to admit his mistakes,” compared to 30 percent who say Bush’s actions demonstrate that he is “willing to take political risks to do what’s right.”

For the GOP meltdown, we need to thank Mr Bush and his minions. Without them, without his stubborn arrogance, we wouldn't be looking at such pretty blue numbers.

In an effort to separate themselves from "The Commander Guy", during the first GOP debates, Reagan was mentioned 17 times, Bush, only once.

The Commander Guy! Is he a trip or what?
The gop isn't helping itself though either because of the number of them going to jail or resigning or being investigated etc. etc. It's hard for people like them to stay under the radar for long and now they're finally showing themselves for the crud they are. And they justify the opposition and scorn they've faced from us.

I understand that when Dubya was mentioned at the GOP debate, everyone turned and spat on the floor. What a mess! At least with Reagan, they only gagged and we spat.

In the real world, unlike the one the Bush-Cheney gang has been trying to magically (insanely) create, there possibly could be only a snowballs chance in hell for the repugs to occupy the White House any time soon. So, maybe the up coming billion $ campaings spending could be redirected, for instance, toward improving inner city schools, taking care of mentally ill, whom are warehoused in prisons or left out in the streets, or even tackling some of dire environmetal issues. Then again, why not spend it in these campaings because it would not go to any worth while cause anyway and, for some unexplained reason, might find it's way to booster that all important trillion $ democaratization project in Mess-o-Potamia.

And what's with this Ronnie worship? Guy like Ike had a smarter and more accomplished shadow than St.Regan. Granted, that Ronnie co starred opposite to a chimp in a memorable flick, called Bedtime for Bonzo, while Ike was wasting his time and having fun in the gay Europe in the 40's.

Ziem, storms are gathering on two weather fronts.

1. Impatience on ending the illegal un-provoked, unnecessary, largely unilateral invasion and unplanned occupation of Iraq (IUULUIUOI)

2. Accumulated Rage Against Multifaceted Abuse of Our Constitution (ARAMAOC)

If the IUULUIUOI and ARAMAOC fronts should merge, the resultant impeachment tsunami could break over dikes of party locality and release the fury of a nation united in redeeming itself.

It's my case that redemption can only be attained before 1.20.09. After that date, the stain on our national honor will not wash. Not ever.

The crazy thing about it is that when the approval ratings are shown, the right comes out with their own. The whole lot of them are insane!
