The White House Derby

I am foregoing my series on Dr Laura today for this little fun piece.

The race is on! Let the mud slinging, opponent bashing begin! Let the brave and foolish step up to the plate and may we all see their true natures. May we be not as foolish as we were in the last two presidential elections and vote our head and hearts, not our party lines. And in the end, may America win a man/woman who is actually worthy of the job.

Here's the list so far, pick your favorites & tell us why. This is going to be a fun one, I think - Good Luck!

All I can say is if this is the best we have to look forward to on both sides we are in big trouble. Until I do a little more exploratory investigation I'll stick with McCain. I honestly think he's the only one that can actually get both sides of the aisle to work together instead of against each other. Oh and just for clarification. I'm not a party liner. I vote my heart. I have voted for democrats that I thought were the best people for the job.

McCain - 4 years ago - was the lesser of the evils. After his bowing to bush on the detainee bill... I lost all respect.

We all know my dream ticket is Gore/Obama

No honey, that's a nightmare ticket. Kind of like if the Reps ran Buchanan/Duke. But it could be worse, at least you're not on the Hillary bandwagon.

Nightmare? lol.

Look, 4 years with these two, we'll have clean air, a balanced budget, diplomacy, we'll be seen in greater light throughout the world. Well whoop ass in Afghanistan, hang OBL, free Iraq from the occupiers and give their (voted in) government a chance to work without our gimme oil influence, the American public will once again have a say....

I love Hillary, I just don't think the world is ready for her, just yet. And, no, I don't agree with all of her politics, but she's done a lot for NY - including health care for the 9/11 firemen/policemen who have long term, life ending illnesses due to inhaling morter and stone.

Which - I have to add... master RG denied, just like he denied them new radios that actually worked in 1993.

Yeah 4 years of middle class inflated tax burden to support their social programs. As for the world. I could give a rats patootie what they think of us. How many of them have ever cleared up their debts to us? The American public have a say? I hate to break this to you but this is not a true democracy. It is a republic and until we outlaw the PACs and get some kind of meaningful Campaign finance reform we will never have a say. We elect them to Congress and that's the last we see of them. Once they get in and get a taste of the forbidden fruit they answer to no one except the man that writes those big checks. And that's in both parties! If Hillary got any further left she'd be a freaking communist! Yeah, Slick Willie promised a balanced budget too. I'm sorry but until the president has a line item veto to eliminate pork barrel spending we'll never have a balanced budget, I don't care who's in office.

As a middle class tax paying citizen, I am so overtaxed now it isn't even funny. Though Bill Gates says he didn't pay a single dime in taxes.
We are hundreds of billions in debt. I would much rather have my tax dollar finance a social program than this clusterfuck - which is Iraq. Why should I be overtaxed? So exxon can make its billions? Halliburton? They seem to be doing well. Wish I could say the same.
Bush has us in a financial state that our grandchildren won't even see the end of. And I don't even have any yet.

Yes I just love watching my tax dollars finance the wonderful welfare system where I stand a t the register and watch the lady with her 5 kids infront of me pay for her groceries with an Independence Card and then go spend $40 dollars for lottery tickets and leave and get into her brand new Lexus. Yes that's money well spent.
Hey I am a staunch proponent of the "flat tax" Where every individual and corporation pays the same percentage of their earnings in taxes. Takes away the all the loopholes. Only problem is no one on either side of the aisle has the guts to stand up and do anything. Again, Blame both sides. Oh and this country has had a budget deficit and debt problem since before you and I were even twinkles. You want to cure the debt problem? Make all the countries in the world that owe us pay their fucking debt off. And then stop the bleeding further by refusing to be Uncle Sugar anymore to all these flea bitten little third world totalitarian governments that take our money and then spit on us! Now see what you've done! You're going to have me railing on immigration next!! Keep this up and I'll have to come spank you........oops that's right, you'd enjoy that LOL

Gee Larry, you seem a bit testy this evening. Nice to see you end on a humerous note though.

However, you have just prompted me to write about the welfare system - which of course ties in with my organized religion piece. Oh well, Dr Laura unearthing the myths and lies will have to wait another day.

Not testy babe, just tired of struggling through life while watching others get a free ride. Hell, my next door neighbor is just as bad. He gets around $820 a month in Social Security. Rents his spare bedroom and sofa out to 2 drunks for another $300 a piece and gets $150 a month in food stamps. He hasn't had a tax paying job in 20 years, worked under the table most of his life. I resent the fact that he gets a free ride and has never contributed a damn thing to it. Back in 1994 my mother got sick with colitis. My grandmother had just died and she had quit working 10 years prior to that and took care of her mother, who was a stroke victim full time with no help from any gov't agency. Social Security turned her down for SSI because she hadn't paid anything into it for over 10 years. Yet, people who have never paid a cent into the system can bleed us dry. I'm sorry, that's just wrong!

I agree Larry, there is a lot wrong with the system. But can you deny a single working mom or dad help with food? heat? What about the elderly? Disabled vets?

Yeah, I think this topic needs it's own thread. It's in the top of my "to do" list today.
